  The Saanich Centennial Branch is no exception. It's a physically appealing library, with a decent number of workstations. But it's overrun by people who seem to view it as a place to loudly talk on cellphones. It's a shame.

  I don't mean to sound bitter, but what happened to libraries? When I was a kid, a library was a place to read quietly, learning about the world in an atmosphere of quiet interest. Now, it seems, it's a place (that's rarely open) where you go to check your facebook, gossip loudly with your friends, and permit your young children to run around yelling.
